We want this to be simple. Here is how we handle refunds.
Donations
Donations are gifts. They are voluntary, non-deductible (we are not registered as a charity), and generally non-refundable.
All donations on this site are one-time payments — we don't currently run a monthly or recurring giving option, so there's nothing to cancel.
When we will refund a donation
If you donated in error, email blessed@thankgod.space within seven days of the donation and include:
- The date of the donation
- The approximate amount
- The email address used at checkout
- A short note on what happened
Typical cases we treat as in-error and refund:
- You clicked the wrong amount (e.g., meant $5, donated $50)
- A double charge appeared (technical failure, please tell us — we'll also flag it with Stripe)
- You meant to give in someone else's name and want to redo it under theirs
- You changed your mind within 24 hours of giving
We'll look at it and respond within five working days. Outside the seven-day window we generally do not refund, but we'll always read your note.
When we will not refund
- Donations made deliberately and not regretted, simply because circumstances changed later
- "I didn't get what I expected from reading the site" — the work is free; the donation is for the work that already exists
- Requests outside the seven-day window without a clear in-error reason
How and when refunds arrive
Refunds go back to the original payment method via Stripe. Stripe processes them in 5–10 working days, depending on your bank.
You will get an email confirmation from Stripe when the refund is initiated, and a separate notification from us once we've actioned it on our side.
EU and UK consumer rights
EU and UK consumer law generally exempts donations and other voluntary gifts from the 14-day right of withdrawal that applies to purchases of goods and services. We honour the seven-day in-error window above for everyone, regardless of jurisdiction.
If you believe your rights have not been respected, you can lodge a complaint with your local consumer protection authority. The Imprint lists the operator's jurisdiction.
